June 26-29, 2009 - Gethsemani Abbey, Trappist, KY

These are some photographs taken from the June 2009 LCG retreat at Gethsemani Abbey.

If I were to do a lot of actual writing about my experiences over the four days that I was there , I could likely fill a book. I'll just say a couple of things, and then hopefully the pictures will do the talking.

In a very short amount of time, Gethsemani Abbey began to feel very much like home. I allowed the peace and silence to invade my soul, and I feel that I truly met God anew. I also made many friends who I am sad to not be able to commune with, in person, whenever I want...both laypersons and monks. God bless all of them, all of you, and this beautiful place.

Peace & Hope!

  1. Blessed Jon - I am thankful for your gift of photography. Although I was not able to attend this year's retreat, I have been graced with times past at Gethsemani surrounded by the gift of silence and solitude. The trick is to remember to bring home a seed of that silence and solitude and nurture it daily, even in the midst of chaos and uproar! Let me close with an old quote, "What brings you to the monastery is not what keeps your at the monestary". May we all find Peace in our times. "Brother T."
